Always wanted to meet film makers from other countries? Or even secretly dreamt of making a film over the border? But always thought it is a bridge too far? Breaking Ground is here to connect you! 'Cause Breaking Ground is a European Student Film Festival. A travelling one. Starting off in Holland in October, touring through Germany, Poland, Denmark, the UK, Italy, Spain and Czech Republic to finally get back to Holland again for the Grand Finale.
Breaking Ground will give students a platform to show their work, the opportunity to talk to other student film makers, get influenced by other ways of working and maybe even as important: the chance to just have a beer and a laugh with people with the same interests.
Wanna be part of this? Then submit your film or check 'agenda' for when the festival will be in your country!
The festival is starting in October 2008, but it already has a history!
'Cause in 2005 a small group of people in Holland had the feeling that it was hard to get in contact with film students from other school in their country. They were really curious about what the other students were making and they were sick of always having to work with the same people in their class over and over again. So they came up with InDeMaak (freely translated: InProgress), a monthly Dutch Student Film Festival.
It became a success: great films, talented students, enthusiastic audiences and a lot of beer.
Now, two years later, it's time to look beyond the borders. Over the internet it's quite easy to connect to other people, but still: where do you meet fellow film makers really easily?
The idea of setting up Breaking Ground was born.
