In een showcase van e-Art projecten vraagt Virtueel Platform aandacht voor hedendaagse trends in kunst, onderzoek en ontwikkeling. Met de presentatie e-Art worden opvallende trends van dit jaar aangestipt: milieu, sociale netwerken en mobiele technologieën. In een speciaal opgestelde Dome op het Westergasterrein zullen meer dan 30 projecten gepresenteerd worden door tien Nederlandse en vier internationale organisaties. E-Art is meer dan een verzameling gadgets, e-Art toont grensverleggende mogelijkheden en nieuwe vormen van maatschappelijke reflectie door middel van installaties, visualisaties, indringende documentaires en gesprekken met makers en organisaties.

GOGBOT festival Enschede 18 – 21 sept 08

ART    MEDIA  MUSIC   TECHNOLOGY

18 -21 september presenteert PLANETART de 5^e aflevering van GOGBOT, het multimedia festival in Enschede. GOGBOT is een platform voor nieuwe ontwikkelingen uit de internationale kunst, in een dit jaar bijzonder curieuze combinatie van media, technologie en popcultuur.

 
Thema STEAMPUNK
Robotics, virtuele werelden, freakshows, macabere laboratoria, lezingen, interactieve  machines, vernieuwende elektronische muziek met ouderwetse klanken, betoverende videoclips en veel stoom, want STEAMPUNK is het GOGBOT thema van 2008. Bij STEAMPUNK wordt moderne technologie en vormgeving vermengd met elementen uit het Victoriaanse stoomtijdperk, toen technologie nog nieuw en romantisch was. Bruce Sterling, samen met William Gibson de bekendste sci fi schrijver en de godfather van Steampunk, leverde een inspirerende bijdrage aan GOGBOT.

 Deelnemende kunstenaars o.a. Pablo Ventura (E), ArcAttack (US), Joost Conijn, Katinka Simonse (aka Tinkebell), Filip Jonker, Arno Coenen, DrGrordbort (UK, NZ, Lord of the Rings FXstudio), Christiaan Zwanikken, Bill Spinhoven, Powerplant, e.v.a.

  Het hart van dit vrij toegankelijke festijn is het centrum van Enschede, waar ook dit jaar een brede selectie hedendaagse kunst te zien is: hip, politiek, technisch, opwindend, vernieuwend. Ook in de wederopbouwwijk Roombeek zijn tentoonstelingen ingericht, o.a. in het Rijksmuseum Twenthe en voormalige textielfabriek Tetem, bijv. met werk van 35 kunstacademie graduates 2008.

 In Poppodium Atak is er elke avond een knallende GOGBOT party met de nieuwste live-muziek uit Londen en Berlijn. Experiment, breakcore, electro, drum 'n base, retro-acid, micromusic and more…

Opening:
Het GOGBOT festival kent een spectaculaire opening op donderdag 18 sept 20 u in de Grote Kerk met interactieve DJ/VJ installatie met motion tracking device en op de Oude Markt, met the Singing Tesla Coils uit Texas, hoogspanning op electronische muziek (Europese primeur!), performances met freakshows, Victoriaanse voertuigen en circusacts, hangende robots, streetart en gaming en veel stoom! 

Dresscode: STEAMPUNK

(Steampunk is momenteel de rage in Amerika: zo bracht Casio deze zomer een Steampunk horloge uit en Nokia de Steampunk telefoon.)

BOUWHOUSE

Tijdens de maanden september, oktober en november zal het BOUWHOUSE project

plaatsvinden op het terrein voor de 'RAC Hallen'.

BOUWHOUSE is een buitenproject in en met 12 zeecontainers met als thema

(ver)BOUW(ing). Het project zal 3 maanden staan. Naast een aantal geplande

weekend manifestaties met muziek en performances zullen de containers ook

geopend worden voor exposities, workshops en film.

De Bouwhouse zal tijdens dit weekend geopend zijn op *vrijdag 5 september

van 19:00 tot 23:00 uur, zaterdag 6 september van 12:00 - 18:00 en zondag 7

september van 12:00 - 18:00 uur*.

 

Het BOUWHOUSE heeft een modulaire structuur en zal geen week hetzelfde zijn.

De structuur is bedacht door afvalarchitect en kunstenaar Denis Oudendijk (

REFUNC <http://www.refunc.nl/>).

Dit weekend vind je er bovendien 3 installaties van het Haagse

kunstenaarscollectief Baracca <http://www.baracca.nl/>, en de Litouwse

kunstenaar Linas Kutavicius (www.lightforms.lt).

 

De komende maanden zal de BOUWHOUSE gevuld worden met exposities, workshops,

lezingen, muziek, een film- en videoprogramma, en performances door onder

andere Macular, Shitcluster, the Lunatics, Marlies van der Linden, CXC,

SBSC, Mia Westerhof e.v.a.

NEXT GENERATION OF JOURNALISTS MEETS IN BRUSSELS

From 15 to 17 October 2008, 200 young journalists from across the European Union will gather at the European Youth Media Days for seventy-two hours of high-ranking debates and hands-on media production. Application until 24 September 2008 at http://www.youthmediadays.eu.

New media. Open minds. Challenging ideas. From 15 to 17 October 2008, the next generation of European journalists will meet at the European Parliament in Brussels for the second edition of the European Youth Media Days. Hosted by the European Parliament and organised with the support of the European Youth Press, the gathering of 200 emerging journalists will promote discussion on a variety of European issues. Participants will confront, provoke, and interact with other perspectives and realities, while networking with their peers.
Core elements of the three-days-programme: the creation of new European media formats, on air, online, and printed through hands-on media workshops. High-ranking debates with the President of the European Parliament, Group Chairmen, correspondents, and media professionals from across the continent. An exciting cultural programme. Insights into the Brussels sphere of media, culture, and politics. The EYMD offers the chance to share knowledge, improve media skills and gain a unique international experience at the centre of European political life.

PICNIC 08, 24 t/m 26 september

PICNIC is Amsterdam's leading annual international event, highlighting creativity and innovation, particularly in media, entertainment and technology. PICNIC brings together and disseminates the ideas and knowledge of the world's best creators and innovators.

PICNIC '08 will be held in the Westergasfabriek (factory) in Amsterdam from September 24 to 26, 2008. PICNIC focuses on bringing together inspiring, creative and innovative individuals. The PICNIC audience includes creatives, artists, scientists, designers, entrepreneurs, thinkers, lawyers, format developers, agencies, cross media content production creatives, advertisers, programmers, investor, writers, filmmakers, journalists, and technology-and service-providers from around the world.

PICNIC '08 comprises a conference (PICNIC Conference), seminars with a strong focus (PICNIC Specials) and workshops (PICNIC Labs) and an international competition to identify the best green product or service, called the PICNIC Green Challenge and fuelled by the National Postcode Lottery.

PICNIC is organised under the direction of the Cross Media Week Foundation, which receives support from numerous companies and organisations as well as the City of Amsterdam and the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs.

The PICNIC Specials are focussed seminars, lectures and round table discussions that dive deeper into the PICNIC themes.
